Have you heard about Advanced Style yet? If the answer is no, read on!
Now, some of you may be appalled by these women’s looks, some of you may actually like it. Whatever the case may be, you can’t deny their energy and passion for fashion, style and life in general.
To be honest, I’m kind of fed up with the whole image that blogosphere created and served for us to consume without even questioning it a bit. A “great and inspirational” blog these days consists of head-to-toe 20-something year old dressed in only designer clothes, snapshots of front rows or after parties and closeups of iPads and other gadgets. To be a successful blogger today means the most expensive camera you can find out there, khaki shorts and JC Litas. That may be fashionable, but lacks personal style and expression. Everyone can throw on a pair of skinny jeans and a shirt, but not everyone can give that same simple outfit that ‘je ne sais quoi’ feeling. Many of the so-called fashionistas are trying to hide the fact that they have no sense of style whatsoever by faking minimalism (while they don’t even know the first thing about minimalism). Half of their looks are predictable and easily imitable. A lot of people could achieve the same with probably half or even a quarter of the amount they spend. What truly saddens me is the direction fashion blogs and street style are heading nowadays. Instead of inspiring us to try something fresh and think out of the box, they are pushing us to do what everyone else is doing, just because that’s the trend.
I’m so grateful my mom taught me to always follow my own instincts and wear whatever I like, no matter what everyone else says. There is always going to be people who support you and admire your style and creativity and those who don’t. Start having fun with fashion and exploring your style. Learn to ignore the weird looks you get from people and stop worrying about what others think. Do what you’re comfortable with. Always remember you’re dressing for yourself and nobody else.
Life really is too short to miss a chance at being the best version of YOU. It’s never late to enjoy your life the way you want it. These ladies from Advanced Style proved that style only gets better with age. Being eighty or ninety or even hundred doesn’t mean you have to give up on whatever makes you happy, whether it’s chunky jewelry or bold prints or long orange lashes. Or something completely different, like jeans and a tee.
These videos are not only a great stylespiration but also a good reminder of how we should have fun and live our lives to the fullest while we’re still alive.
