You, as readers of my blog, probably know I have a little tradition in the making here on MoiMinnie, that occurs every year on this date. I make a special post on my birthday because <sarcasm> I’m conceited liek dat </sarcasm>. (I invented the sarcasm tag because I’m painfully aware of the fact that people tend to judge too much too fast.)
Moving on, here we have a specimen of a fresh 23 year old, who is apparently acting as a 3 year old who has just discovered her mom’s make-up bag. If you ask me what’s it like to be 23, I have three words for you – same as 22. And oddly enough, when this day comes around, I always seem to be depressed about something. I went back in time and read my last year’s birthday post, and holly shit – I could’ve just copy/pasted that whole block of text here. Then again, as I already mentioned in that text, “maybe I’m just becoming aware of the fact that I’m not getting any younger”. The clock is ticking, the time is slipping away and all I do is watch that happening. Well, that part is a lie. I actually accomplished so much since 21/06/2012 that I deserve a good kick in the butt for even thinking about saying I’m feeling blue. I have so much going for me, so many amazing projects behind me and many that are yet to be done, so many interesting people I’ve met and many more that I am yet to cross paths with. I’m healthy, got a good head on my shoulders, got amazing readers and people that support me in what I do, that in reality – I should feel blessed, to say the least. And honestly, I do. I just sometimes need a little reminder that I should take my blessings out of my pretty bag and count them as often as possible.
And for all of you lovely people who wished me the best on my special day, I thank thee. Hope this post will inspire some of you too in terms of how you look at life. If it does, my birthday wish already came true.
PS. The obvious upside of being 23 (or just older) – is being more wise and having more life skillz than before. They say you live and you learn, so why not look on the brighter side of things and make the best of it?
