Don’t you love that feeling when you wake up, quickly wash your face with warm water, slap on some moisturizer and run out the door? Yeah, me neither. If we’re going to be completely honest here – most of us aren’t blessed with that supermodel complexion and usually we need a little pick-me-up from the make-up department in the mornings. Cue my new fresh skin routine that will take no more than 2 minutes of your morning time (because every second of sleep counts, am I right?).

Forget about all that stuff you need to layer – what you need is only these 3 products:

1. concealer, BB cream or foundation // I’m currently using Oriflame Skin Dream BB

2. any moisturizer (preferably with SPF!) // I’m currently using Oriflame Optimals Even Out serum

3. liquid or cream highlighter // I’m currently using Essence So Glow highlighter

Mix a tiny bit of your concealer or foundation with an even tinier bit of highlighter and add your regular amount of moisturizer. Warm the mixture up between your fingers and apply it to your face like you would any other cream. Done.

What made me fall in love with this fresh skin routine is the simplicity of it. You don’t need to waste time on precise application and layering million of products. With these three, you get the best of both worlds – that fresh, glowy, natural look but still a bit of coverage to even out your skin tone and conceal any imperfections. If needed, you can add a bit of primer as well, to prolong the wear of your make-up. It is perfect for all more-sleep-and-breakfast-in-the-morning lovers like myself and such a great option for everyday school looks. Very into it.

Hmmm… do you have any suggestions on working this with oily skin that can only take gel-like textures? I only have heavy-coverage makeup, which won’t mix in so well, but often I’d like a less heavy coverage for certain areas that are not covered in redness or pimples…

Hi Vivien, thanks for stopping by! For those areas where you don’t need such heavy coverage, I’d suggest using a light-weight BB or CC cream. I haven’t had the chance to try out high-end ones, but I hear that Laura Mercier and Bobby Brown do some really nice ones. As for drugstore, Maybelline Dream Pure BB is really great since it contains salicylic acid which helps reduce blemishes. Hope this helps! x
