DIY embellished slippers04/09/2015
New in, straight from the back of my shoe cabinet.
I am still amazed at how much a bit of spray paint, metal studs or ribbon can alter a piece of clothing. Once upon a time, these were just your average black pointed-toe flats. While I do love me a basic pair of shoes, these particular ones started giving into the daily wear and tear. Before discarding them, I thought I’d give the babies some TLC.
The inspiration for the makeover came from Oscar de la Renta embellished Spanish mules, which have been the object of my deepest desires lately. And the light bulb above my head just wasn’t gonna go away until I went out and got some bling!
Following the DIY tradition we’ve got going on here on MoiMinnie, this embellished slippers project is so easy – your kid could do it for ya. I basically just laid out the ribbon and the bling on a flat surface, arranged it to see how it would look like on the shoe itself. Then I started gluing piece by piece, making sure everything is the way I want it to be. Once the last stone was glued, it was all a waiting game. I left the slippers to dry overnight and proudly stepped out to give them a test drive the very next day. Lemme tell ya – these shoes were made not just for walking but for prancing around like a peacock in the midst of the mating season.
I hope I made Mr. De la Renta proud.
