top fall lipstick colors06.10.2015
Bright coral lipsticks and creamy nudes aren’t exactly considered your fall lipstick colors, but I have to disagree with that notion. Risking sounding like an emo teenager – I rarely label things. Just like I don’t have “winter” and “summer” handbags (hi mom), I don’t have winter and summer lipstick colors either. I’ll wear deep burgundy shades in mid-July and enjoy my brightest red lippie while it’s snowing outside if I want to. #fucktherulez
However, fall seems to be that limbo where you can literally get away with anything. It’s still warm enough to wear sandals, but it’s also appropriate to start layering too. Same with make-up – pair those rich bronzy tones with the deepest red lip out there and you’re golden!
That being said, my current go-to fall lipstick colors are a mix of neutrals and shades of red. I’m loving the coral tones, for those warm early fall days. I usually wear it with minimal make-up and very simple outfits. It really pulls everything together! The one I’m wearing is AVON Ultra Color lipstick in Bright Nectar.
Going a bit deeper, rich reds are always a great choice. Especially paired with a crisp white button up shirt. Yum. This particular shade I got by mixing Aura lip liner no. 34 and a thin layer of MAC Ruby Woo. The liner has a slight purple undertone so Ruby Woo is just here to offset it.
Of course, no list would be complete without a choice of neutrals. While I do wear nude lipstick all year round, I have to say when fall rolls around I’m leaning towards slightly more brown undertones. The combo I’m wearing in the photo above is Aura lip liner no. 49 and MAC Creme d’Nude.
