timeless gift ideas31.12.2015
I’d like to believe I’m a good gift-giver, carefully observing and listening to interests, wishes and personalities of people closest to me. Not being a huge cheerleader of all things disposable means I am certainly not into disposable gifts. Investing a lot of time and thought into a gift and giving a great one does not necessarily equal investing heaps of money. In my opinion, three most important “rules” when brainstorming a present are: functionality over everything; it needs to fit that person’s personality, style and possibly wish; and longevity – has to be either long lasting or in some way reusable/ be able to be re-purposed. I thought I’d combine showing you what I received this Christmas and giving you a mix of timeless gift ideas for all budgets and interests. Hopefully you’ll still get some inspiration and good use out of it for years to come!
If you’re planning a gift for someone really close to you that just loves technology and/or is working in that sort of field and your budget is fairly large, consider getting them a tech piece – new laptop, camera, phone, game console. If you can afford it, I really don’t think you can ever go wrong with those. For a blogger like me, these things are always welcome! I’m lucky to have had my lovely Santa who got me a new laptop when my old one literally broke recently.
Another great option is quality jewelry. Girlfriends, sisters and mothers who are accessories junkies would fall in love with a new pieces of bling anytime! Here I showed you few different options: a necklace with a statement pendant by Alice Made This; a set of earrings and a thin bangle by a talented designer & musician Renée Sys, from her Confetti line; and a set of marble ring and necklace from Vitsyle.
Wrist watches are my favorite focus piece these days and I am happy to share the lovely gold one from Cluse and a classic leather-strap watch from Daniel Wellington (you can also get 15% off ANYTHING at their store with the code moi_minnie !)
Got a beauty junkie on your hands? Why not stop by your local MAC counter or head to a drugstore and pick up their favorites for a little personalized beauty gift basket! This holiday season I treated myself to a cream highlighter & face mist from MAC and a new foundation from L’Oreal. Body & hair products are a great idea too!
If all else fails and you just do not know what to get for that one person that has everything – keep it simple. A set of handmade ceramic coffee cups, a scented candle with their preferred scent, a potted plant “for good luck”, a cashmere scarf in their favorite color, a journal with a personalized message inside… the options are truly endless.
If you’re crafty, there’s a plethora of DIY projects you can easily do and have a unique gift for little to no money! Pinterest and ISpyDIY are a great starting point for getting inspired for gift ideas. Just trust your intuition, make it meaningful and whatever you buy/make – do it from the heart.
Let me know if you have any timeless gift ideas that never fail! Also, hope you all had a lovely Christmas! I wish you nothing but health, love, wealth and happiness in the New Year and a great time when the clock strikes midnight! See you in 2016!
