It’s been more than a year since we witnessed the emergence of the perfect hair accessory at Céline runway show of SS 2015. The thought of finding something similar one day has been stuck in the back of my mind since. I finally found what I have long coveted – the Céline hair clip look-a-like, for a fraction of a price. Even though the title says DIY Céline hairclip, I actually got this quirky hair barrette at a local hardware store – where else? I was browsing the paint section actually, when my eye wandered towards the shiny little hardware objects, as per usual. I immediately grabbed this baby and even though its original purpose has to do something with motors – I don’t doubt its capability of serving the purpose of a beautiful, statement, industrial-looking hair accessory. It’s just the right thing to elevate your everyday hair look and spice up a casual outfit, without being too attention-grabbing. Alternatively, I find the look of the clip placed on the strap of a clutch or an over the shoulder bag most interesting, which is how I will most likely wear it this spring.

There you go – DIY Céline hairclip made simple and easy, just how I like it! If you were also on a hunt for something similar, hit up your local hardware store or shop some affordable look-a-likes below!

Pretty! I saw a few affordable options at Target and this post is definitely making me want to go back and pick them up. Great simple way of wearing your hair down but also keeping it out of your face.

lovely – but I feel like it’s way too heavy to stay in the hair for longer than a picture.

Thanks! It actually did stay for far more than I too expected it to – it does require adjustments after an hour or two xx
PS. I do have thick hair so it might not ‘behave’ the same on very fine hair.

I also fell hard for the Céline hair barrette, such a simple idea but such a beautiful one. Great job, this looks brilliant.
