black + navy01/05/2014
During my absence from the blogging world, a combination of black and navy in the same outfit became a thing for me. If you are an avid reader of my blog then you probably know that my only fashion rule is that there are no rules. That’s why I thought disregarding all those ‘dos and don’ts’ concerning the black and navy combo was a pretty obvious thing to do. I quite like how this is an example of an almost all black ensemble with a twist. Wearing all black can become a bit dull after some time. Switching one piece of your outfit from black to navy maintains the dark color palette, yet still adds a bit of color. I’d say that mixing in some textures helps keeping things interesting as well. In this case I went with this croc bag, which is threatening to become my spring wardrobe staple. It’s got that simple and elegant aesthetic of The Row pieces which got me hooked (still dreaming about that backpack to be honest).
As can be noticed, I am taking a (brief) break from stacking all kinds of jewelry. I believe I am well known for my occasional obsession of piling up necklaces, bracelets and wearing 5 kilos worth of rings. However, there are times when I get bored of it and just go with minimum amount of accessories. Here I opted for a few delicate silver rings and a tube ring – that baby’s actually a DIY, click to read more about it!
croc bag, loafers worn as mules – no brand, from a local store
black matte sunnies – street vendors
black tube skirt, navy sweater – thrifted
stacking rings – H&M
